What is a website?

In 1996, the internet was young, and web presence was restricted to the technically  savvy. Greg King wanted to learn how to author websites, and realized that a basic family oriented site wouldn't teach him much. He approached his sons' youth baseball league to see if he could do an official website for them.

They asked two questions...

How much will it cost us?  and   What is a website?

Using his sons' league as a project, Greg learned how to manipulate HTML and images to come up with a basic site that included schedules and scores.  While informative and effective, this model required that anyone updating the site have access to the server and know html syntax. There had to be a better way!

In 2000, Greg was wanting to add some 'flair' to the site and Phil Cohen of Absolute Internet suggested he look at this new scripting language called PHP.  Greg took some webmonkey tutorials and before long was re-writing the code using php as a front end to the mysql database.

NetSport was born!

NetSport uses html forms to interact with the database.  The website displays information contained in the database in a pre-defined format.  This system is incorporated on many youth sports oriented 'for profit' sites such as eTeamz, active.com and clubspace.  The difference with NetSport is that the other sites take the advertising revenue your site generates, and forces you into a cookie cutter sheet that is designed for their benefit.  NetSport shares your revenue with you, and works with you to develop your site's display.  You solicit your website sponsors and enjoy the returns.

Our business model is based on you, the league having 25 website ads to sell per year.  You sell them for whatever amount you wish.  We charge you $48 a year per ad slot you sell.  You sell none, you pay nothing.  You sell all 25, you pay $1200.  To help us defray costs, your site will display 5 of our advertisements.  Most are related to encouraging more customers and should not compete with your advertisers.  Assuming you sold all 25 ads for $100 a year, your league would generate $1300 in revenue by using our service!

Assuming you sold all 25 ads for $100 a year, your website would generate $1300 a year!

NetSport is currently in a development and beta status.  Customers are scrutinized for their diversity and willingness to participate in a full test of the product.  As such, they do not pay for ad displays on their sites, and only incur modest costs for artwork and other independent design efforts they require.

Our current NetSport development partners are:

While not part of the NetSport development program, we have been working with Little League California District 13 to improve their online presence and assist with the appearance of their tournament brackets.  Their site is at http://www.cad13.info and is coded by us with a JOOMLA structure,  icetheme templates and our proprietary php2brackets software.
